There is something to be said for a kid with a dream. Well, Kila Sons proved that a dream coupled with some hard work can produce BIG results. Kila wanted to raise money for Rise Above Performing Arts. She wanted to give back to the organization where she has deepened her love of theatre.
Kila knew that Rise Above operates 100% of donations so she wanted to come up with a way she could contribute. She organized a silent auction. She got other members of the Rise Above family to donate items for baskets in the theme of their current production, “Godspell.” Once the baskets were created, Kila sold raffle tickets during the production for $1.00 each. Guests at the show put tickets in for the baskets they wanted and a drawing was held during intermission of the closing show.
Kila organized everything from the collection of items, to coming up with basket themes to manning the table at the event. All told, the gift baskets raised over $1,100 which will be used to purchase much needed additional stage lighting for the theatre. It just goes to show that everyone can make a difference and support Rise Above. In Kila’s case her vision and hard-work produced amazing results! Thank you Kila!
